Booking & Appointments

  • You can book online anytime using our booking link here.

    If you’re unsure which service to choose, please reach out before booking, we’re happy to help you find the best fit for your hair and goals.

  • Generally, no! Our booking system stores card details securely in case of late cancellations where we need to charge a fee.

    A deposit may be requested in specific circumstances such as major colour changes.

    The answer is a definite yes for event bookings like weddings

  • We understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer your appointment to another client.
    Cancellations within 24 hours or missed appointments may be subject to a cancellation fee between $30 and the value of the scheduled service cost.

    If you miss your appointment, 100% of your missed service cost must be paid prior to rebooking.

  • Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring someone for comfort or support. Just let us know beforehand so we can make sure there’s enough space and a calm environment for everyone.

  • We would actually prefer it.

    Texting or contacting us via our socials is an easy way for us to keep track of what your needs and preferences are, plus you can send us inspo photos!

  • We don’t have a receptionist and are usually busy doing hair so the best way to get a quick response from us is to text 0413 756 932, or message us on our socials.

Before your Appointment

  • Please arrive with your hair:

    • Dry

    • Clean-ish (1 or 2 days after your last wash)

    • In its natural curl pattern (no ponytails, buns, or braids)
      This helps us see your true shape and texture before cutting.

    • No buns

    • No ponytails

    • Normal styling routine - don’t panic if you don’t have one, this is where we can help! (You can have products in if it’s part of your usual routine)

  • Definitely! If you would like us to use a product that we may not have, bring it along to your appointment (including but not limited to: Shampoo; Conditioner; Styling scalp care*)

    *Please let us know if you have any scalp treatments that may require extra time

Accessibility & Neuro-Affirming Practices

  • Yes! You can request:

    • Low or no conversation

    • The music turned down

    • Fidget toys during your appointment

    • A mirror cover

    • A quiet space to decompress

    • A private appointment (must be organised well in advance)

    Just mention your preferences when booking or send us a message as far in advance as possible and we will try our best to accommodate for you.

  • You’re not alone.

    If you’d like to chat through your appointment beforehand, we can explain what to expect and answer any questions. Our goal is to make every client feel safe, respected, and supported.

  • Mostly, our salon is accessible. If you have specific mobility or access needs, please let us know in advance so we can ensure your visit is comfortable from start to finish.

    There is a little lip at the front entry, and unfortunately the bathroom at the premises is not accessible.

Services & Pricing

  • Yes! Our services are priced based on time, technique, and product, not gender. Everyone deserves access to quality haircare without assumptions or outdated pricing models.

    We celebrate all hair: curly, wavy, straight, coily, fine, think, and everything in between.
    Hormones, health, and life stages can all shape how your hair grows and feels, and that’s something we honour, not price against.
    At Mikaela Jane Hair, you’re never charged by gender or texture, only by the time and care your unique hair deserves.

    Every head of hair is different, and that’s exactly what makes it beautiful.

  • All curl cuts must start with an “Initial Curl Cut” appointment if it’s your first visit with us.

    These sessions allow us to understand your curl pattern, hair goals, and preferred styling routine.

    We also use this time appointment to go over all education and care.

    Colours
    For curl colour, if you would like to discuss how this will work best with your curls, we can set up a consultation appointment before the day and discuss an in-depth plan.

    All colour services include a short consultation, and we’re here to help, but if you’re not sure then book a consultation prior to the day of your colour appointment.

  • Yes, we do! We love working with younger clients and can adjust the appointment to suit their comfort levels and attention spans.

  • Perms and chemical straightening are two services that we do not offer at Mikaela Jane Hair.

    We’re all about embracing natural curls and we don’t believe in using chemicals to change hair.

    Chemical processes like these can compromise the health and integrity of your hair, and we’re passionate about keeping every strand strong, nourished, and thriving.
